HISTORY OF THE EAGLE CHURCH
Eagle church of the Nazarene had its beginning in 1920, when a community Sunday School was of Eagle.
The sunday school group asked Mrs. Emma French, consecrated deaconess from Boise First Church, to assist in the work.
With the aid of Rev. Minnie Dickinson, Mrs. French kept the work going until the summer of 1992 when a tent was rented for a three-week meeting with Rev. Fred Sinclair as evangelist.
The church was organized September 30, 1923, its eleven charter members were: George and Mary Clark, Tom and Etta Williams, Mrs. J. Simmons, Powell Simmons, Alvin Williams, Emma McClintock, C.H. French, T.O. Clark, and Emma French, who was called as Pastor.
Days of struggle followed and at times Satan fought the new work until it seemed as if it would have to be discontinued. through dedicated pastors and the faith, prayers and faithfulness of a few members, the church has continued through the years.
An upturn was experienced in the 1950's when, under the leadership of Rev. Elmer Vevig and later, Rev. C.C. Smith, the old church building was sold and the church building at 2nd and State was built.
In March, 1971, under Reverend Bill Russell's ministry, a five acre tract of land east of Eagle was purchased for future development. In June of 1974, under the leadership of Rev. Robert Manley, we sold that land and purchased eight acres west of Eagle. The old church building was sold and our new building was started. In 1976, under the ministry of Kenneth Ball, we moved into our present building.
In 1985, Pastor Russell returned to Eagle. The church continued its plans for further development and growth. In 1990, an educational wing with three large classrooms and a youth center was completed.
After the retirement of the Russell's, in 1995, the church called Rev. Tim Bunn as our pastor. The energy of Tim and Melodee have given us new vision. At the present time, our building is too small. We now have two morning services and two Sunday Schools. In the near future we will be expanding our facilities to reach the community. We truly are a CHURCH BEYOUND OUR WALLS.
The Eagle Church of the Nazarene has had seventeen pastors to this date. They are as follows:
